WMCTR is an effort by people of faith working together to dismantle poverty and build justice.  The effort is led by the West Michigan Call to Renewal Committee, coordinated by and legally grounded in the Grand Rapids Area Center for Ecumenism (GRACE), affiliated with the national Call to Renewal, and supported by denominations, congregations, organizations and people of faith in West Michigan.

The overall purpose of WMCTR is to lead a community faith response to poverty in that we:
    * Raise awareness
    * Stimulate and gather more persons willing to work their faith
    * Achieve greater justice for those of us who are poor or disenfranchised through encouraging and facilitating greater levels of community advocacy

Activities include:
    * Advocacy trainings for the faith community
    * Discussion forums with legislators
    * Bringing in staff from the national office for events to raise the awareness of poverty issues in the local and national areas
    * Educational gatherings on issues such as affordable housing, livable family income and urban sprawl
